Where in BC can you find the best diving? Do you need any special gear? What can you expect to see?

The sea life along the coast is magnificent! And one of the nice things is that it also changes from bay to bay depending upon how the currents and tides play a roll in the different bays. Some spots have more bull kelp, some more scallops, cod, crab {many different typs}, etc.

Where are you planning on visiting? Any of the major centers have shops and charters available to get you into the water.

As to special equipment, the only extra thing you really need is a warm exposure suit. The waters don't get much past the mid-high 50's. It's worth the trip!

There are so many good places to dive in BC. The Island, the Sunshine Coast... every where is different, but fabulous.

<DIV>I agree with diver daver, get a good exposure suit. It's chilly here and you'll want to slow down and look at all the life around you.</DIV>

I've heard good things about Nanaimo area from my Uncle who lives there. I haven't had the chance to dive there yet.

You mean stuff like this:

The last photo is a Heart crab. I took these photos during a dive trip to Quadra in 2006. I stayed at Quadra Island Diving Charters - Abyssal Tours and Accommodations in Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada
