Puerto Rico???

I'm booking my family on a January 3 Celebrity cruise out of San Juan. There will be 6 of us (3 divers). We are thinking about flying in on January 1 and diving on January 2. Does anyone know a reasonable place for us to stay for 2 nights that would be convenient for the airport, ship and dive ops? Thanks.

I have booked a flight to PR on Christmas day. We will be staying on the western coast in Rincon. I have been able to find very little information on the diving in PR. I get the impression that they do not cultivate thier diving as a tourist industry like some of the other islands do.
The small island off of Rincon called Desecheo is suppose to be a very good dive. Good luck in your search and I will be watching this thread for any input.

I am on a cruise in Feb 09 (Celebrity Solstice) which stops for a day in San Juan. I have booked some diving through Shoretrips Welcome to ShoreTrips® - Your Guide to Shore Excursions . They came reccommended on the Cruise Critics boards. The ship gets to SJ fairly late in the day so I will be doing an afternoon dive and hopefully an evening dive (to be arranged on-site).

will you be out and about on the island?? after seeing some highlights of dives there, i started looking at a trip myself but wouldnt you know it, the very same week, Fox News has a report of the Animal Control folks on Puerto Rico throwing dogs off bridges to the rocks below (where some didn't die immediately) instead of euthenizing them and while i know, as a tourist, i wouldnt actually SEE that kind of thing happen, i cant get it out of my mind.....

The animal control company was a contractor from the States (Animal Control Solutions) so get your facts straight before making us look like retards
