Sailing Charter in the BVI-Sept
I have a sailboat chartered in the BVI in September for my honeymoon. We plan to dive quite a bit but I am interested if anyone has any suggestions for an itinerary, both Scuba and topside. I know this is low season but is anything actually closed? Any other tips are appreciated.

The Baths on Virgin Gorda is a must see. It's a good snorkel, especiallly from your boat, moor offshore and swim in. Easier than down the path.
The Pusser's factory store complex is entertaining. A little shopping, waterfront bar etc. And Foxy's Too (bar) on Jost Van Dyke. On Friday nights visitors and locals etc. on Virgin Gorda go to the Leverick Bay Buffet. You can moor there just offshore and I think borrow/rent a tender. Not sure how it works though. And stop at the Willy T for lunch one day. Win a free t-shirt... (gotta jump - you know... to get one though...)We didn't get out there but Anegada is supposed to be pristine. And there's some beautiful, mostly deserted beaches on VG. You should have a great time, everything in that area revolves around sailing. Two of the diveops do rendezvous diving (DiveBVI on VG and Blue something on Tortola), they'll meet you with tanks/gear if pre-arranged. And dive the Rhone, it's the BVI signature wreck. And a really good one. I'm not big on wrecks but I enjoyed that one. The prop is massive and there's a lot of small intact details. And re-create the scene from the Deep where Jacqueline Bissett swims out of the hold. The Dog Islands are good diving also. Seal Dog Rock was interesting. It's a small rock formation in the middle of a channel. I swam into a swarm of baitfish and filmed as the barracuda and snook picked them off. Other good dives: The Indians off Norman Island, Thumb Rock near Cooper Island, Chimney off Great Dog and Carrot Shoals. (not sure where it was) If you don't have your own tanks on board, I recommend DiveBVI. They're one of the best dive outfits I've ever used. Last edited by diversteve : 08-13-2007 at 11:15 AM. |

I dove the BVI's on the Cuan Law last December. If you are considering the BVI's? The best day was the three dives on the Rhone.
