Only been to Dominica on a cruise. Was there for one day and got in two dives. Dive Dominica took us out. Great bunch of guys. I'd definitely dive with them again. We did L'Abym (The Abyss) and Champagne Reef.
L'Abym is a fantastic wall dive. A HUGE amount of marine life. I would say this is a not to be missed dive. Champagne Reef is call that because there are hot springs under the water. The hot gases bubble up through the sand in really fine little bubbles. It is like champagne. There are places were the hot water is coming out in jets. You can lie down in the jets and it is really warm. Downside: when you swim away you feel a chill. It is a shallow dive (40' I think) and nothing special. There are probably a lot better places to dive there. |

Just FYI, this is a good site for general info when you're planning your trip: Discover Dominica: the Nature Island. dive, hike, whale watch... and defy the popular notion of a Caribbean holiday

Just got back from Dominica, it is truly paradise. Beautiful landscape, great diving and probably the friendliest place I've ever been. Castle Comfort Dive Lodge and Dive Dominica were fantastic! I hope to get a trip report posted in the next week or so. Going through about 2000 photos...

We got back about a month ago after spending 2 weeks in Dominica. Dove with Dive Dominica, stayed in a rental house (Pete's Casa - lots o' roosters). Diving was some of the best we've experienced (have everything from 30+ yrs of diving experience in the group to folks with less than 50 dives). Would highly recommond Dive Dominica. We did have a safety issue with one of the Dive Masters, discussed it with him and Derrick (owner Dive Dominica). Derrick resolved the situation beyond our satisfaction. Next time we visit, we will dive with Dive Dominica again. Make sure you also take advantage of hiking opportunities the waterfalls are gorgeous. Dominican's are probably the nicest, friendliest people I've ever met.

However, my brother Michael lived in Grenada, he was one of the medical students "rescued" from the medical school there back in the 80's...another dive location on my list... |
