I believe accent on CAR is more correct.

Living closer to the Bahamas than I do to Disney world, we use the accent on RIB.

As a fan of the Jerky Boys, I put the accent on BEAN. LOL

I would have to agree with Splitlip. The name Caribbean comes from the people native to the region, i.e. the Carib Indians. According to some Carib Indians I have spoken to it is Car-ib Indians.

There are enormous numbers of local variations.

The one most familiar to me is essentially a slightly glamorized: KRIB-yun.

But...

Wichita is definitely pronouned...wuh-ich-IT-tah.
