Grand Cayman Island

Hi there! I'm going to the Grand Cayman Islands this winter for my wedding/honeymoon. Any suggestions as to where to go?

one of my favorite trips

We have been staying and diving with Sunsethouse for several years and never have been disappointed. Great house reef, top notch dive ops, and last but not least My Bar and the spectacular sunsets

I must agree with DS78. We have stayed at Sunset House three times in the last year. I will stay there again and again. Great dive op and dive guides, great shore diving right off the resort. My Bar is the best dive resort bar/restaurant that I have been too. Get the Ocean View room or Suite.
BTW, congratulations on your future wedding!

Are you looking for a place to hold the wedding, or just for a honeymoon? Are you both divers? If only one of you dives what does the other person like to do? Budget?

I personally would go for a nicer place than Sunset House for a wedding or honeymoon, even if both of you dive but especially if only one of you dives. It's very much a dive motel.

Take a look at Cobalt Coast. www.cobaltcoast.com
Nice,secluded,great diving.

FYI, its the Cayman Islands OR Grand Cayman (the largest island) NOT The Grand Cayman Islands. Sorry-Pet Peeve of mine!

Just on the Sunset house site this sounds great. They have just started a hurricane protection guaranty for the balance of 2007. If a storm end your vacation they give you 18-months to complete the trip. Cool.

Personally I would prefer something a bit more intimate for my wedding than Grand Cayman and the Seven Mile Stripmall. But as little info was given I would suggest Little Cayman instead.

some areas of GC are nice and quiet and away from the "Seven Mile Stripmall."

There was a wedding reception at Cobalt Coast one of the times we were there. May have been local people, not sure, was a pretty decent sized group.

Besides budget and stuff, how many people are coming along on this shindig? There are lots of other islands I might consider as well.

I'm actually staying on 7 mile beach. My fiance and I are taking lessons in scuba in Chicago. So both of us will be newbies. When we get here....we're doing our certification. Just really excited.

We may be headed to the other little islands around. Don't know yet. Depends on how smooth everything goes!
