Bonaire for the Non-Diver

So, me and my dive buddies (brother & sister-in-law, wifes sister) are planning on another trip to Boniare in November. My wife who is not a diver is showing interest of wanting to go this year, but she absolutely hates waiting around watching us blow bubbles. I'd like her to go and would sacrafice some dive time to spend time with her.

Any thoughts how to entertain her in Boniare (divers paradise)? It's not exactly the white sandy beaches type of place.

Washington Slagbaai Natl Park was a nice diversion. Downtown Kralendijk might be entertaining, lots of shopping.

Depends on your wife. If she is like mine, the sit near the pool bar and read thing would be great. If she is the I like adventure type, I would consider another destination. Just my .02psi

She's a writer, so she enjoys sitting and reading, so just sitting back and reading a good book doing nothing is typically a good time for her. On the other hand, she does a lot of work on-line and enjoys on-line. With Bonaire, the on-line thing is a little sketchy.

It all depends, some of the hotels and restaurants now have internet for free.
Also, if she is a writer then she might meet some interesting people there, just hanging out at one of the beaches/beach bars while you dive.

Maybe on your day off together you could go over to the other side and take windsurfing lessons! That would be a fun, full day of activities.

My hubby and I always say we are going to try this one day next trip.

The internet connection at Buddy Dive is OK but not robust enough for uploading pictures.

I loved Bonaire! But for a non-diver its not the best vacation. My non-diving husband went with my all diving family on a vacation their last Aug 08. Mostly he came to the dive sites and snorkled, or took the rented truck and drove around the island. I took some time off and we did the down town shopping thing... but their is not that many shops so I don't think that will take more then one afternoon. We did do the kayack/ mangrove tour and I would recommend that. It was pretty cool. We stayed at Carib Inn right on the water right by the pool. We had a great view and internet in our room. But for your wife I would recomend one of the bigger AL hotels. Just make sure you take her somewhere she wants to go next time.

Washington Slagbaai Natl Park is a good day trip. Roads are rough and be ready for most of the day gone, you will need the PAPER portion of you marine tag from STINAPA, everyone going will need one.

She could go to Lac Bay watch the wind surfers and work on her computer. However, I am not sure about internet connection there. Several of the downtown eateries offer some form of internet connection these days. There is always Chat N Browse with Lovers Ice Cream next door to it.
