Hey Zena, what was the diving like on the east side? What kind of marine life? Very different from the rest? Or more of the same?

In addition to shore diving, we also did a charter with East Coast Diving. Although it was an interesting trip and worth doing once, the conditions and diving just weren't appealing enough to do it again. Granted, we were there when there were unusually large swells for July, so conditions were more challenging than normal thus restricting us to 2 sites.

We will be going again in Feb 2010 for a week. Staying at Deep Blue View up on the hill. This will be our second trip in a year and can't wait to get back. My Avatar pic is from Karpata Dive Site.

Wanda and I refer to Taylor made as Shin Pad. We wished we had shin pads for the entry\exit. Still a great dive.

We dove with Larry's Wild Side on the East side when we were there. We were the only 3 divers in the boat; saw tarpon, big morays, 2 spotted eagle rays, and a lot of turtles. Was a good break midway in the week for a little different type of diving.

Chauncy19 - are you saying you went for a solo (or single week) or that this trip you went solo (you, yourself and thou)? If it was you went by yourself - how was your experience on finding dive buddies?

rmkrause,
solo as in alone. i didn't find any dive buddies and didn't really try too hard. black durgon inn is rather small so its chancy. Al the owner assured me buddies were to be found but as I say I didn't push it. The dive in front is great and I've done it many times before. didn't go too far away except where noted.
I am guessing the larger resorts are better if you really want to find people to dive with also just larger dive ops too. having said that, if you're going to Black Durgon in season many more people/divers are there then in August :-)
