Where to go in Nov? Newbie, shore diving
Looking for places to go in the Caribbean in November that would be suitable for someone that just finished their OW. Personally like shore diving so want a place that is friendly to shore diving.
Wife and I would be flying out of EWR (Newark, NJ) and trying to keep the trip relatively cheap. Would like to go for a week. Ideas: St Croix - Carambola Resort, very close to Cane Bay where I did my OW Bonaire - Coral Paradise Resort or Dive Buddy Resort, tons of shore diving Curacao - Dive Bus Florida Keys - No shore dives but would be cheap and quick to get to - Silent World or Conch Republic. Other ideas? How would the weather be in these areas? Is there a good time of year to goto Bonaire and plane tickets also cheap? In Nov from EWR they are $650 |

Heading out to Bonaire Nov 7th for a week. For shore diving and easy diving this is the place.
If your looking for "cheap" Mexico seems to have it, but Bonaire isn't that much more. Pretty much every place will work for new and seasoned divers. The end of November you are getting into the later part of the hurricane season; so, I always try to schedule trips no sooner than November. Snagel |

The weather is good in November in Dominican Republic, the prices probably too, because it's just before the high season starts. Great for all levels of divers, but not shore diving.
Good luck with choosing your trip

My first trip to bonaire was in november and it was the best of 8 times there. its quieter then, suppose to be the rainy season but rained only alittle bit early in the morning. not sure how common that experience was but really really liked it. did fly out of newark this past august, although the flight had alot of issues I did get a price of $450. Prices for flights do fluctuate Never stayed at either place but I am sure you'll enjoy them. Have heard a only good things about both.

Can't really beat Bonaire for shore diving. My last 2 trips (April and August) were with air fare around $300 per person out of Houston on Continental. I have seen similar prices out of Newark. Air fares can vary quite a bit so I'd be looking for something more reasonable than $600. You might try Continental Vacations and check out a Drive & Dive package to Buddy Dive including air. There are cheaper hotels with dive & dive packages but not as nice or convenient as Buddy Dive.
Then again, you may be trying to go during a more popular season so prices may just be higher.

I would recommend you go to the Keys for your first dive trip. The dives are easy and lots of fish, plus cost will be much lower than your other options. A week trip there will be half the cost of any of the others you mentioned. Fly into FLL or MIA and rent car, drive down to Key Largo. |
