Costa Rica

Anyone been diving here? I'm thinking about doing a mountain bike trip to Costa Rica next year and was wondering if it'd be worth it to extend it and do some diving..? I know there's zip lining and such there as some non diving people I know have been.. but I haven't heard anything about scuba..

We dove just outside of Tamarindo. The visibility was low compared to diving in the Caribbean. The fish were big. We saw several nice sized sharks (and with the lower visibility, you had to be close to them).

The zip lines were awesome, the food was good, the beach was great (Playa Grande), the house on the beach was even better, and the surfing was pretty good.

We flew in to Liberia on the north end of the country via American Airlines as opposed to flying in to San Jose further to the south.

Almost forgot, the roads on the north end of the country are horrible.... even worse than the roads in the Dominican Republic!

Good luck.

He said the vis was bad compared to the carib and then implied it was pretty sucky with the "you had to be close to the shark to see it" comment..

But yea.. everyone says the roads are horrible.
