Did you feel safe while you were there? Just wondering if a lady on her own would feel safe during the day. I mean like taking a taxi or walking to the nearest dive shop. I felt totally safe doing that in Cabo and Puerto Aventuras since it was so close, but not as much in Puerto Vallarta since it was a really long taxi ride into an unknown area.
Also were there lots of fish, sharks, rays, coral? Currents? I have read about St. Lucia topside and it sounds amazing. |

I currently live in Dominica and feel that it is very safe. I guess it depends on the area you are in. I wouldn't go walking around by myself in the heart of Roseau but I live in Portsmouth, about an hour north, and I feel safe at all times of the day. You may get hassled for a dollar now and then but that's true anywhere. If I were vacationing in Dominica I'd stay near Portsmouth, the diving is great in the north. I'd just take one day and go down south and do Champagne or Scott's Head for something different.
As far as other places around, I wasn't that impressed with St. Lucia. St. Vincent has much nicer diving and is less crowded. I recently went to Montserrat and it is very nice. We went there right after Dean hit so the visibility was less than usual but still not too bad. We saw some great stuff including some larger fish and rays that we don't often see in Dominica. |

Some people confuse Dominica with the Dominican Republic. I'm not saying you are, just that some people do.

Dive North Side of Grenada
I have dove St. Lucia and I like it in May for the Jazz festival and to do a two island vacation with Le Source Spa Resort in Grenada and Rendevous Resort in St. Lucia. Dive with Dive Grenada and their fast boat will take you to the best sites on the undived north side. There you will see black coral forest areas, big violet vase sponges and the ocassional dolphin and sea turtles. St. Lucia, Antigua, Curacao, Aruba are ok. Curacao has a better protected reef than St. Lucia where the locals have fished it bare. I dove it in April. I saw some nice sea horses but there is more to see on the North Side of Grenada and Le Source Spa is a great spa to stay and women LOVE IT! MASSAGES EVERYDAY ALL INCLUDED! Taichi, Yoga, Fencing, nature walks, meditation and I even saw a family of squid right off the beach. It even has the 600' Bianca C Italian Ocean Liner at 125' but only the gurters are standing and the hull. Its an ok dive definitely better than some of these wimpy sunk fishing boats or an occassional airplane. Grenada Ck it out! My wife wants to go back in April.
