We were supposed to go, but work got in the way! Those who we planned to join had so-so conditions two of the three days and started their trip with jellyfish stings! I've heard from many AZ folks it's really nice, and the water temps get toasty as the summer goes on. I think every dive shop runs a trip there once a month and its hugely popular with the AZ crowd. Sea lions, lots of sea lions!

It's better in October. No stingies and the water is quite warm. Summer can be really hot in San Carlos. We went at the beginning of the month and had a good time. We had a lot of wind from the south on day 2 and didn't have great conditions then, but still got in a couple of good dives. Days 1 and 3 were great, though. It's a nice easy drive for some good diving. Lots of life in the Sea of Cortez. Check out the San Carlos and Himalaya pages on www.southwestscuba.com.

San Carlos Mexico
The wife and I have been there twice a couple of years ago. Dove with Gary's. The boats are old and slow. I hope he's upgraded by now. Diving itself was good, the water was a bit cloudy. San Pedro Nolasco is what's called "Seal Island". The seals are there in October, it was somewhat barren in August. Overall, we had several days of good diving.
Enjoy it! |
