From what I remember of old SB threads, very few operators will take you, it's a long ride, not much to see, and the currents are pretty dangerous. I would say if you want something different, you might consider taking the ferry over to the mainland and trying the cenotes. |

If you are AOW and have enough dive under your belt ask about going to the mainland to dive with the turtles.Shallow dive(40-60) and mild current but loads of stigrays and turtles (most of the time) extra cost $18 .. dive paradise... require at least 50 dives.East side to dangerous.

Aldora does go to the East side...I think you are trucked over and pick up their boat on the eastside....I would think the best time to attempt it would be when the westside is seeing a lot of wave action (the normal diving side of the island) otherwise I would think it would be a pretty rought ride...Ihave heard also not that much to see for the obvious reasons....

I agree with torrey, if you have a chance go to the mainland and dive the cenotes. I just got back from Playa del Carmen a couple of days ago. My girlfriend and I did a couple of dives in the cenotes and it was a really cool experience. We had never done any cavern diving before and we both really liked it. The water was crystal clear and it was something different. It was a blast, I'd like to go back to do a few more dives in the cenotes. We went with Diablo Divers, our guide was named Martin. Maritn was great, he was very friendly, and when it came to the dives he was very safety oriented.
Have fun in Cozumel. ˇViva Mexico! Last edited by Live2Dive Skate2Live : 07-30-2007 at 05:59 PM. |
