I am going to the Dom Rep on the 6th of August and will be diving with Scubafun.
Anyone dived with them? I have read a lot of good reviews but have seen nothing much on the US sites. Will be based around the Bayahibe area. good dive sites/recommendations. Ajuva

I was in the DR last year and dived only one day. Vis is great, but where I was, the diving was very shallow around the wrecks. You can stay down forever, but big surges. They have some cool caverns. Marine life was limited. I heard that they really don't restrict commercial fishing, so a lot of fiherman are pretty close to shore, reducing number of fish in dive areas. I still had fun. I heard Catalina Island is the place to go in the DR, unfortunately we couldn't get there. I'll have to check my log for sites.

DR
I went to DR Aug. 4 thru 11 stayed in Punta Cana but all the best diving seems to be on the south side of the Island. I dove with Dressel Divers had a good time. Catalina and Catalanita Island area is the nicest diving I think in that area. Iberostar resorts are home to Dressel Divers so it makes for easy access. I stayed at RIU but didn't dive with them. Watched some others packing their own tanks back up from the boat with Scuba Caribe. Also diving seems to be a bit pricey compared to Cancuun and Cozumel area. I'll not go back to DR as a dive vacation site just R&R.
