Either would work, but I'd take the 5mm, between the two.

I'll probably do that, or just save money and get the 7mm instead.

But then I'm still gonna wear my skin suit, gloves and hood. Speaking of which, I heard glove is forbidden in Cozumel, you know anything about that CompuDude?

I don't know, I was basing my response off known water temps and what I've read reported by others.

I would not bother with either gloves or hood in water that warm, however. Especially with a thicker than normal suit (5mm or 7mm vs. the more common 3mm) and the fact that you are used to diving actual cold water, Coz is going to feel like heaven. No need for gloves or hood, allowed or not.

Some dive ops don't allow gloves, but some do, it just depends on the op

I wear gloves, but never purposely touch anything, but I have been pushed against some of the reefs by current and glad I was wearing the gloves for protection.

Well, reason why is, I still have nightmares of that idiot who took off his mask, put his face into a metridium sea anemone, and I'm sure you know the rest. And don't want to have a hand puff up to the size of a water melon if a current pushes me to a rock, not that it happens, but always prepare for that.

Cozumel Water Temperature

I have been diving Cozumel since the mid-80's. In fact, I will be there next week. I have never worn anything thicker than a 3 mil suit and have always been warm (even down to 232 ft!). Most of the folks I dive with wear little or nothing more than trunks and a T-shirt while diving there. But, I tend to chill easier! I haven't worn gloves there in many years. Some of the dive ops ban them and I find you deliberately avoid touching things if you are sans gloves. A hood is definately not needed.
