Destination for Solo Female
Any suggestions for a good spot for a solo female traveler? Preferably someplace in the Caribbean. I would like someplace that I can walk around or leave the resort by myself if I want to, so relatively safe would be good, and someplace I can dive a bunch. I don't want all inclusive, or anything super fancy. Actually I like as basic as possible. I've been to Belize twice and would head back there in a second, but want to try someplace new first. I don't want to go to Cozumel or PDC, etc because I already have a trip there planned in July. I'm thinking about maybe Utila but would love any suggestions.

I have considered doing a liveaboard--especially since I got an email from Nekton yesterday with a 10 day itinerary that sounds pretty good. I thought about Bonaire too, but I was a bit concerned that being a shore diving destination, it might be hard to hook up with someone to dive with at any given time.

Roatan would be a good choice, some of the dive ops work for a couple of hotels and you can meet people that way.

I can't say first hand since I'm not going to Bonaire until April, but I hear that finding someone, or most likely a group, to dive with is pretty easy. I don't need a "buddy" really, just people around in case I need some help. I'd like to think that we're all each others buddy!!

I say Bonaire. It is extremely easy to hook up with other divers. Just leave word at the dive shop. When we were there I didn't want to do a dive and my husband was hooked up with another diver within the half hour. Then we met another single diver through the other fella and he dove with us a time or two. Many single divers there.
