I'm going on the Monarch of the Seas with Royal Caribbean on Dec. 22 to the Bahamas and have decided to dive directly through Stuart Cove for a couple of reasons. One, I want to get away from all of the crowds of the cruise ship. Two, I want to do the shark dive, which is not offered through the cruise line.

I used to say the same thing, but now that I dive, I want to go back to Nassau. No diving at Coco Cay.

We ran into an issue on our last cruise ship dive... The ship was about 4 hours late pulling into Cozumel. We had booked through the ship and had no problem with the excursion. Not sure what would have happened had we booked on our own...

they stopped diving operations at CoCo Cay? huh?

(or was this just because you went in December and it was considered a summer seasonal event?)

One of the advantages of using the cruise line's dive op option is you get to get off the ship in the first groups instead of having to wait in line with the "general populace". Or so it was for Royal Caribbean, can't speak for any others.

I haven't been there since I started diving last year, but I don't recall them offering a dive excursion there. I do see where they now offer it as an excursion on their website, so I may have been mistaken. Apologies!
