What is the usual return policies on gear. Is it reasonable for me to
assume that if I buy some fins and end up not liking them that I could return them? I know it depends on the piece of gear and the specific LDS policy, but what's the general rule? |

<DIV>As someone who owns a retail store (Not Scuba Related) I would have to say a big no. It is not reasonable to buy something new and return it used unless there is a manufacturer defect. The dive shop will have to take a loss on them and sell them as used. Try to rent or borrow something before you buy it if possible. I knowbeing a retailer I am hyper-sensitive to this issue but that is my two cents.</DIV>

Yeah I totally understand your point of view. I'm just worried about spending $100 on fins that don't feel good once I'm in the water. Being in AZ and having no finned friends, it is hard for me to rent/borrow. I don't know though, maybe I shouldn't be that worried, I've just never shopped for higher end stuff. I just know I can't show up with my Aquaman fins from when I was 10.

Do you plan on buying at a LDS or online? Many dive shops will let you try out gear in the pool (if they have one), and online retailers often have more lenient return policies. Every retailer will have their own policy, so it's best to ask before you buy.

I'll tell you to snag a set of bio fins. They're what I use, and I love 'em. I'm so sure you will too, if you get a pair, take them diving - if you don't like them, I'll exchange or refund no problem... that's how confident I am!

<DIV>I bought a pair of Bio Fins from Scubatoys about 4 months ago and I agree with Larry, I love them!!! I also got the spring straps and I don't know which I like more...the spring straps or the fins. I will no longer own a pair of fins without spring straps. They are the easiest, most comfortable things I have ever used. </DIV>
<DIV></DIV> <DIV>Go to the Bio Fins website and look at the video on how to kick properly with the Bio Fins. It sounds crazy to watch a video on how to kick, but it is worth watching because my biggest problem when first getting them was I was trying to hard with them. When I slowed down and modified my kick they worked MUCH better.</DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV> Quote:
