Envy and jealousy can be very ugly.

It started out that way then everyone started adding to it, then we needed to adapt it for other groups, students etc. It may look unruly in this format but it fits on less than a single page. You can't imagine what students will forget to bring.

This is a good example of exactly how the list has evolved over the years. I make a fun thing out of it and it seems to work when used. It is an ever expanding work.

Mental note........................add Q-tips. How could I possibly have missed Q-tips...........oh brother.

That is a serious list. Do you cut, past, and reprint for specifics, or just line-out the stuff you don't need? And why the q's? This has me confused. As for why, I'm aircrew, we have a checklist for everything. We don't always use them to get the job done, but we always scan it before calling the task godd to make sure we didn't miss anything. It's like cheating, except it's a good idea.

All the q's are a misfortunate relic of the change in format from MW to the posting boxes of ST. Thoses q's are boxes for checking off items as you go for the actual MW list.

The best way to use the list is to sit down with a highlighter and mark everything you will need for any particular outing then check it off as it is packed.

The original also has emergency contact information on it and phone numbers for where you are staying at the time and also the dive shop you are working with.

It has been a big asset over the years.

I have a checklist, but it isn't as extensive as this one. Rather than list every wetsuit I own, I just have "wetsuit" and I decide which one for the particular trip. I have a dry box and a small dry bag which always contain certain items (sunscreen, save-a-dive kit, etc.), so those small items aren't on the list. Some items are always on my BC (safety sausage, shears, whistle, mirror), so those aren't listed either. I have a column for husband, myself, and son.

One thing that I do list out is each light (have a bunch) with what size/number of batteries. That way I am sure that I buy enough to load everything that we are carrying.

I also have a separate generic packing list for clothes, etc. On it I have phone numbers that I need to call (to notify credit card companies that I will be out of the country, stop newspapers) and things I need to do around the house (hold AC, water plants, pay bills). Most everything that I have on that list I have forgotten on one trip or another.
