It's a rental who cares if it is cleaned. But if you want to just put the dust cap on and rinse it in fresh water

I guess it would be nice to rinse it in fresh water. Our shop doesn't wash them after a pool session though.

I use rentals all of the time to date. I always wondered about that... did theguy before me let go of his lunch its just more than I really want to share with others. Is there some sort of spray on sanitizer than one can use?

A really good fresh water rinse should be fine. I only used the rentals during my OW, but they did make us rinse them after every use. I agree with Damselfish, regardless if it's a rental or not, it should get cleaned and be treated properly.

I am with coralcrazed - I want to make sure that I do not get whatever the previous diver has NOR do I want to pass on what I have to the next diver.

I wonder if dunking a reg's mouth piece in Listerine sanitize it??? I will take my chances on the wetsuit but not the mouth piece!!!

Thanks

Thats why I don't rent. Beside if I clean it or not it's the shops job to maintain it. Poor LDS is why rental gear is "crappy" not mine for not rinsing it.

Buy your reg. Rent the other stuff, even the BC...but buy your reg.

But to answer your question, before using the rental reg, clean it. I wonder, would you use a very mild bleach solution (thoroughly rinsed), or is that distructive to the rubber surfaces? Clean the reg and gear afterwards; that's just polite and respectful.
