    PADI Membership Renewal

I'm not sure if this is just a mistake or if it's happening to other people as well. On 1/9/09 I sent in a check to PADI for a one year membership. On 12/10/09 I sent in a check for a 3 year renewal. Recently I just received another renewal form. Had I not remembered I paid for a 3 year renewal I could be sending in another check. If I had chosen another 3 year membership, I could be paying 7 years of memberships in less than 2 years time. I understand it's the members responsibility, but it's a little SLY to be billing for memberships when they are not due. Nice way for PADI to double or triple their membership profits. Pay Another Dollar In......

I joined PADI in July 2010 and started getting renewals about 2 months ago.

Membership??? What are you paying for?
I have been diving since 1998, never paid PADI anything except once to get another cert card ($50 rip off) cause it got stolen.

For the first time in ten years I have chosen to not renew my PADI membership. I've never taken advantage of any of the discounts and I find the DAN magazine so much better. I asked myself what am I getting for this? The $$ I save will pay for at least a few air fills.

I hope they don't take away my c-card.

Unfortunately many organizations seem to use this approach......and yes it is easy to end up with many years worth of memberships in a short period of time

since you mention it. I have received some of the same letters. Funny thing is, I never paid them anything. Never had any magazines or ordered anything from them. The only thing I have had is certifications.

PADI is not the only one that does that!
Bally Total Fittness did that to me also.
I ended up with three accounts paid for in one two and three year intervals. When I discovered it, they refused a refund, since they didn't know which one to refund. Unfortunately, i stopped all payments and stopped going.
Maybe I'll start again soon, and pay closer attention to the acount.!
