Answers on threads

What I find annoying are some of the replys on these threads. Some people are looking for some help to their questions or problems, and the replys that they get have nothing to do with what they were looking for. For example, the question would be: Red or Blue? and some of the replys would be:
1: = purple
2: + green + yellow+ orange + violet = pretty rainbow
3: cows with hats
4: tuesday

you get the idea. Why not give the answer these people are looking for? I do have to admit, sometimes it is funny. Oh well, that's my gripe of the day.

Sometimes people answering questions have advice they feel is relevant, or something the original poster should consider, even if it doesn't directly address the question.

First, this site encourages posting just for the discount which contributes to the thing that annoys me which is waking up dead threads. As for going off topic or oddball answers, threads become discussions many times and this leads away from the initial question. If you follow the continuity of the thread, usually you can see the logic branches. Just my opinion anyway.

There are forums that by their nature encourage the behavior you describe (surface interval, man laws, women's issues). I think that at times some of us (holding my own hand up as well) sort of migrate that type of banter to other forums where it may not be as appropriate or appreciated.
