not everything included

maybe its just me, but isnt it kind of messed up that you can spend a lot of money on a dive comp,( proplus 2) and they dont give you the cable with it, but you get the software. cables like 90 bucks. its like buying a camera and having to pay more so you can download pics. just kinda makes me think. i dont know if any other brands do this too. i love the computer, and its not hard to transfter the stuff by hand, but why? when you buy a piece of equipment everything should be included. just a thought.

Um, maybe because some (most?) people don't care to download their profiles and so don't want to pay for a cable and software they won't use?

Just an idea...

Yes other brands do it to, actually I do not recall any brands that include the cable in the purchase of the computer. But I agree with you, it should be included.

+1 for it should be included. Its a usb cable for crying out loud. Certainly not worth 90 bucks for them to stick their proprietary connector on the other end. Its just like printers though. You cant buy a printer with a cable (or at least they used to not bundle them).

I prefer not to pay for something that I will never use. They sould, howerver, make it crystal clear what is and what is not included.

Goodness, if it were included, you'd just be paying $100 more for the computer to start with. Not everyone (not even most divers) want the cable. It just makes sense to package them separately (and yes, they are a rip off when you consider it probably costs them $5-10 to make).

If I could go to any office depot and buy a generic cable for my computer the same way I do with a printer, I wouldn't complain about it, but at roughly 25% the value of a new computer I think is a rip off.
So let me rephrase what I said earlier:
Cables should come included with the computers with a minimal price increase (15 to 20 bucks) if that much.
Edit
On second thought if it was available for that price separately I don't think we would complain about it either.

I think they should be up front about it and i don't thin a freaking cable should run you $90. What is it platinum wrapped in gold?

Um, as a business, I'm pretty sure they should charge whatever maximizes their profits.

I agree that it should be included and that it is absurd for USB cables to cost what they do for these computers. It is a bad marketing strategy to me to sell it separately. Is it really maximizing their profits? I'm not so sure. Although I would find it useful, I'm not buying it on principle. If it was included and the cost of the computer for a few more dollars, they would make that additional money off of me, and now, they are not.

I think of it like the airlines charging me 15 dollars for a single checked bag. So now everyone is carrying on, the planes are stuffed to the gills, and they are alienating their customers. If that 15 dollars was buried into the airfare, we would be happy and feel like we were getting a fair shake.
