Return the fins or the booties???
Hey guys,
Heres the deal, I got my Tusa Liberators today... and they look sweeet. But I have a problem. I got these http://www.simplyscuba.com/products/...DutyBoots.aspx They wont fit in the fins! Now I am faced on weather to return the fins or the booties? I got the fins from here and booties from my LDS. What should I do? |

Did you get them at a local shop or online?
Looking at the boot themselves, they look like no matter what, they will take at least a one larger size fin no matter what. Given that they are 6.5mm, I'm going to go on a limb and say that you are diving colder waters? If that's the case, then a thicker soled boot is in order and a bigger set of fins should be purchased. I will admit I have two sets of fins, one is for more tropical waters and thinner boots, one for the typical cold water dives and thicker boots. both fit great but are for different climes. I unrestand that not ervery one does it htis way for a plethora of reasons, but that was my solution to the same problem I had.

Thing is that I got fins sized 9-13. Biggest ones in the liberators. It's not the bootie part so much as it is the sole... Maybe I should exchange for some normal soft sole 5 mms.
Thanks for the help. I bought the booties from my LDS and fins on here. I will be at the dive shop Thursday. Maybe I should show them the fins? Or should I just bring the booties in? |

In the socal, you will appreciate the thicker soles and warmth given your local conditions. When you put the fins on, where do they stick? On the sides or the top-looking at the fins, I'm going to bet on top. Your call, but given your area, it might be better to give Joe and Larry a call and talk to one of them and they will make it right.

It's not always about the looks. Functionality usually ends up the winner. That's why a lot of the divers progress to bp/wings, Jet Fins, Turtle fins. Not the best looking, but the most functional. If you like the fins, keep them and find a boot that fits. But you may end up buying a thinner boot and it may not work anyway in cold water. So here we go again, functionality....
