Leisure Pro & Aqua Lung

Good evening,

Just wanted to get a better understanding on this before I decided to proceed forward. I travel on a consistent basis, so I have no loyalty to any particular dive shop locally. I've always liked Aqua Lung and I needed a new regulator. Well, a friend of mine suggested that I go to dipndive.com because she had a great experience with them. I scanned their extensive inventory and found that they didn't sell Aqua Lung online, only locally. I spoke to a few other people and they said that AL doesn't allow their products to be sold online. I found AL items on LP's site for sale online. That brings me to my dilemma/problem:

Why is it that LP can sell an item online when the manf. states no? Does a full manf warranty come with the item?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

No... no manufacturers warranty on Aqua Lung, Scuba Pro, Uwatec, etc...

No one can sell their stuff on line with a warranty - it's why we don't carry those lines any more.

Larry already answered... but I'll throw this out there: Go check out the Aqualung site - they have it clearly stated in a FAQ that Leisure Pro is not an authorized dealer.

Thanks for the responses guys. Is this a common practice by LP to sell things that they're not authorized to sell? It's making me think twice about buying anything from them, let alone life support equipment...

Yes it's very common for LP to sell things they are not authorized to sell. They provide there own warranty though(at least they did a few years ago) but you have to deal with them and not the Manufacture.

Actually... yes.. from overseas. I've had many manufacturers that I work with that used to track them all the time, and keep cutting off their overseas distributors that would boot leg to them, but ScubaPro is obviously not in that much of a hurry to do that... That is the main reason we dropped their line.

Question

Just so I am clear on this... ST dropped the Aqualung and Scubapro lines because you can't sell them on-line, and not because there's something wrong with these manufacuters and their warranties, correct?

My LDS has a great deal on a slightly used reg setup (Aqualung Titan LX) including octo and console for $550 that I'm seriously eyeing. I want to be sure this reg will live up to my needs and expectations.
