Same thing happens the world over. Did a trip with the family to Queensland last year. A week or two before we left, Jeststar calls to inform us the afternoon flight we were booked on was cancelled, but we could leave on the 0700 flight. Only problem was, the ferry didn't leave the island until 1000!

Worse, it was all booked on points. But I have to give credit where it's due... QANTAS (who the points were with) bent over backwards to get us on other flights, even releasing seats to their points scheme so we could get on it!

Thumbs up for QANTAS. BIG thumbs down for Jeststar.

They can cancel flights without telling you? Good thing your wife called and asked.

Thats it...add to my paranoia. I leave for Bonaire in 25 days. I hate having no control and when it comes to flights I feel I have no control. I'm already nervous about missing my 5am flight out of KCI or not hitting my connection out of Atlanta (Last flight out to Bonaire that week). Now you've given me more to think about.

Funny, I don't have these same issues on the return flight - don't really care if I get stranded in Bonaire.

Have fun and dive safe.

We flew to San Juan, PR and took the Nekton Rorqual to St. Croix. Airtran does fly to San Juan.

My wife and I run a travel agency. When we get those notifications, we let our cliet know NOW!!!! Even if it's on the weekend or after hours. Before calling the client, we've already put another flight on hold that will work wth the client. This is especially important if here is a connecting flight

The situation that you describe is far to frequent with the airlines. To paraphrase Ernistine the Operator: We don't care. We don't have to. We're an american airlines.

Lucky. I'm counting down the days until I go to the Bahamas in February. Can't wait for some shark diving! Post pics when you get back.
