Gah I wish Scuba Toys sold PADI books!

I had to buy my books for my rescue and wreck diver courses last week from Scuba.com. Not only did they charge me outrageously for 3 day shipping, something was on backorder so my whole order won't arrive until the 16th, I needed those books last week and I'm supposed to have read my rescue book by tomorrow night for my class grrrr. I was going to go through Leisurepro but they were on holiday until well after my courses were up. 18 bucks for shipping due to my school having a PObox, and they can't even get it to me in time!

Seems to be a pattern with them...

Call and cancel the order/Dispute it with your credit card company.

yeah scuba.com did that to me too... I was unaware they were located in Cali as am I and they told me it would take two weeks for my stuff to get to me so I payed $27 extra for 3 day express and it arrived the next day... I was pissed... not that it arrived so quick but that they lied to get extra money... they lost my business... and I get all my PADI info from Sport Chalet... go online they might sell it there

I don't think I can cancel it, it just shipped today as promised when they said it was backordered. What makes me mad is that they won't tell me what item was backordered if it was my front plate scuba cover for my car, or the actual books. If it was the plate I would have canceled that thing and just bought it somewhere else

I need the books by Friday at the latest though, with my school it's hard not to accept the package because it goes through our mailroom. I think I should just call them up and complain up a storm. For that price they should come here at put the plate on my car for me haha

Scuba.com is the worst for ordering and not getting your product. I don't think they have half the stuff they show on their web site in stock.

If you pick regular ground shipping, they always say you will get you order in two weeks. If it is in stock, they ship it the next day and you get it in whatever the UPS transit time is to your house. If it isn't in stock, they just wait to see if they get it in the two week window. If it shows up, great; if not, they send you a backordered notice ten days after you ordered online. (of course, they have already charged your credit card.)
Good business model - sell stuff you don't have and charge the customer for it.

My favorite is if you pay for 2 day express shipping. They guarantee it in two days on the web site when you order. The next day you get an email saying it is backordered and won't be in for a week. If you don't cancel the order, they ship it out in a week and still charge you for 2nd day air delivery.

They messed up three out of five of my orders with delays last year. I shop with several online scuba merchants (mostly ST, now), but I will never place another order with Scuba.com
