hassle X2

this is a complaint and question in one. i recently went to grenada for a weekend trip from dominica. after our last day of diving we spent the day on the beach and accidentally left our camera. we left our # with ecodive with a slim hope that someone would turn the camera in. as a matter of fact, someone did turn the camera in. at first i couldn't believe my good fortune, i would have my camera back for my month long dive trip over christmas, wow!

the owner ecodive told me to send him an email with my address, method of shipment and method of payment for the postage. i gladly did within 10 minutes of hanging up. no answer. another email 2 days later, no answer. a call to the dive shop, they said they never received the emails (even though it was the same email address i used to make my reservations only a month before). they gave me the owner's direct email so i sent the info again. no answer. another email, no answer. my wife called today and he said that he would not ship the camera until he received payment for the postage, and he will not take a credit card. i now have to wait for a check to go from dominica to grenada, wait for it to clear, and then wait for him to ship the camera and wait for it to arrive. i strongly believe i will not receive it for my christmas trip. what should have been a week long ordeal is turning into a 2 month plus hassle because of no effort on his part. while i'm glad he is willing to ship it to me, is it really that hard to communicate with someone. i was ready to write an amazing review of their dive shop and tell everyone how wonderful they are, not anymore. i won't badmouth them because we had a good experience up until now but what a waste of good word of mouth for their dive shop.

ok, there is my rant. now for the question, does anyone know of any fast interisland shipping? (keeping in mind fedex is $200+)

thanks

i can't believe he won't take a credit card for such a mindless, cheap charge...

almost like they want to give you so much run around that you give up...

that's not really an option financially unfortunately. well it looks like through a friend of a friend of a friend we might be able to get it back before our christmas trip.

I think what he meant is would it be cheaper to buy a new camera than to pay all the shipping, but that does suck good luck to you

i've got about $1000 in the camera so it's not really an option to replace it, i think it has worked itself out though. LIAT can ship it and it only costs about $60, not too bad i guess
