equipment failure
i had a problem with my new out of the box and checked at the shop, AQUA LUNG TITAN LX SUPREME. at 60 ft. my second stage would free flow when removed from the mouth even after trying to adjust the flow valve, but would not do it at the surface, but worked fine as long as it was in my mouth in the water, but i went back to the shop and the tech checked it out and serviced it for free. he supposidly turned it down alittle but i have not had a chance to check it since. has anyone else experienced the same with thing with this reg or similar problem with another brand?

Let me ask: did the reg free flow when it was in your mouth, or only when you removed it? If it was only when you removed it, it is a normal occurrence with any highly tuned reg. Try to develop the habit of turning the mouthpiece downward when you remove the reg from your mouth. That will prevent freeflows. If it is bubbling when in your mouth then probably the second stage soft seat has been engraved by the orifice (quite normal) and the adjustable orifice needs to be set, which is probably what your tech did. There is no free lunch with any given reg. The more one detunes it, the less easily it breathes. |

I assume when you say "free flow" do you mean a few bubbles or is it a huge stream of air as if you were holding the purge button? If it i just a few bubbles then I've seen regs do that. A normal fix is to turn down the IP because it has crept up a bit. Some times the techs think that are doing you a favor when they tune your reg to run right on the "edge". I'd prefer they didn't do that. |

REG
No, it did have a steady flow but nothing drastic. to be honest, I dont believe I tryed turning it face down. well I thank both of you for the response, I am glad to hear you like your reg most everyone I spoke with said the same, I have to say it functioned great when I used it, I was just playing around with some of my gear and I acturally took it out to check my spare air Atomic SS1 that performed flawless and that was when I noticed the flow from my primary. I love the reg, and the tech adjusted it and I go to North Carolina to dive on the U-352 next week, I will be diving with my Legend and taking my Titan LX for back up(which i dont think I'll need)but i will test it then. again thanks for your response.
