Mares M2 Flooded
Mares M2 flooded last dive. I cleaned out the battery compartment and put new batteries in and it still works, however it won't stop leaking. Can't figure out why. Do these computers have some sort of gasket or Oring? This one is just plastic on plastic. It's only a few months old, so hopefully it's under warranty. Can't find ANY info on the Mare's website. Not even a customer service section. Bah...

can't speak for the M2 but I used to have an M1, which had an o-ring on the battery cover. I'm assuming they're pretty much the same and so you're o-ring has probably gone to the mystical o-ring graveyard as mine did.
As for replacing it, I'd either ask Larry, your LDS or try various ones until you get a good fit |

I have the M2 and IT DOES HAVE an o-ring! So yif you don,t have one on the battery compartment cover, you are missing one and it will leak every time!
Has it done this out of the box? If so, it would be a warranty issue... If not, you need to find the O-ring and install it. Call Scubatoys; I'm sure they can help you out to find the part! ![]() Ah the beauty of the M2 design! The battery compartment is totally isolated from the computer. If it was not, your comp would be toast!!!!!! |

I believe the M2 is designed so the battery compartment can flood and not harm the computer. The battery cover does have a O-ring and replacing it should end any problems with flooding. if the compartment was flooded with saltwater then cleaning it out and neutralizing any corrosion on the battery terminals will be needed.
