Do 2 new divers need 2 different computers??

Recently certified and up for a bahama's trip. Need to know if me and wife need to get 2 different computers or the same. After reading forum i'm leaning toward the Aeris xr 2 and the mares m2. I need one that is easy to see lol... and wife needs one that is simple. Not sold on these 2 brands but all the post makes us lean toward them but any extra info would be greatly appreciated. We would like to get computers that will last us a while, not sure how far we will go nitrox, wreck diving etc. want something that can expand with us rather than having to upgrade after a year or so. Any thoughts???

You each need a computer. They can be the same kind or different.

you need a computer that suits your needs. new divers... most computers will do. pick what you like.
the good thing about having 2 of the same, is that you will know how to use each others computers...

I agree, they can be the same or different, having two the same makes it easier to understand and learn so you both wont get confused on the screens and settings. Yet two different computers will allow you to try different models. Just go with your needs. I don't know much about the computers your looking at. If your going to advance your skills you may want to get something that can advance with you. I use a Suunto Cobra 2 air integrated and Suunto Gekko and as a newdiver I can say they are so easy to use I hardly used the manual. Good Luck and Have fun shopping!

I STRONGLY encourage you to talk this over with your local dive shop.

The local instructor can show you how the computers operate. You need to be familiar with your computer before you dive with it.

I loved my Aeris Atmos 2 and Veo 180nx....big displays, easy to use...

I got rid of both for a pair of Oceanic GEO wristwatches... slightly more complicated, more features, and smaller overall... A good tradeoff for me, but you would be happy with either the Aeris XR-2 or the Oceanic Veo180nx or Oceanic Veo250... I cannot comment on the Mares computers...

One more thought. When you get to the Bahamas, you might want a local instructor there, to give you a course in using dive computers. Totally worth it.

It would also be a good idea to get a nitrox computer so you wont have to buy another one later down the road..
