I finished my ow certification this weekend at the Homestead Crater in Utah.
Then 10 minutes into the 1st dive my new Uwatec Smartcom failed, so I've got to get it replaced or fixed before my Mexico trip in a few weeks. We descended to the platform and I checked the computer, showed 19ft and the time was counting, then for some reason the next time I looked at it after doing some skills (maybe 5+ minutes) the depth just started showing 3 dashes and the time went to zero. The pressure reading was working fine. One of my instructors has the same computer and looked mine over and said not to worry that they would take care of it. I'll let you know how it turns out for me.I was just curious if anyone else had a simmilar problem? |

The D.shop is sending it back to Scubapro/uwatec for repair/replacement. They said that if it wasn't back before my trip on May 17th that they would give me a new one from the shop and work stuff out later with Scubapro. I'll let you guys know how it works out.

This model has a bad reputation, I've seen guys go through enough of them to outfit an expedition. Some people never have problems, but you'll find that even on this board there are users who've had 4 of them replaced under warranty.
It's not a fluke. Sorry to say.
