Atmos AI Question
Just got back from Cozumel last week. Did my first ocean dives while there. I noticed something a little disturbing during one of the dives. I checked my computer (since it's air integrated, I like to see how much pressure I have at all times) and there was nothing under the psi section, just blank. I started to get a little nervous and pushed the button on the front a few times to no avail. I then held down the button and could see the psi again. I also noticed that it froze my air time remaining (that is, it was an old value until I held down the button to update the psi).
Is this some kind of sleep setting or something? I dove at the lake the Friday before we left and was under quite a bit longer than I was in the ocean and never had an issue. I did go much deeper (90' max) in the ocean than in the lake but I wouldn't think depth would be an issue. Anyone ever had this problem? |

I, and three of my buddies all dive with the Aeris Atmos AI.
I don't believe any of us have had this problem. I would definitely talk to whoever you bought it from (hopefully an authorized dealer!) and see if they have any suggestions. If you download your dives into a computer log - you may want to try to do it before you take it in...because if it has to go back to the manufacturer for service, my experience has been that it comes back to you without any previously logged information left on it. The only problems I've ever had (and from what I've read on-line, it happens now and again, once in a while, on some of these computers) is that when I turned it on it showed a low battery...when I KNEW the battery was at full power. I shut it off, and turned it on - still showed low. I shut if off, and turned it on - showed a full battery. It's only done this once, but after having this experience, I bought a back-up computer for my wrist, and an SPG. I just dive with both computers, and (worst case scenario) figure if I'm out on a boat somewhere and (god forbid) it does it again, I'll still have my Nitrogen data in the wrist computer, and will just switch out the AI computer for my Brass and Glass SPG, and be back in the water without a hitch. ![]() I believe I will be in a much better mood if I have to take my Aeris back for service, If I haven't had to miss any dives over it. ![]()

There is a show "air time remaining" display mode that can be activated
by pressing and holding the front button for 2 seconds. I can't quite remember how it works. But I thought the display reverted back to normal mode after few seconds. Perhaps it toggles each time you press and hold top button. I don't recall it blanking the PSI pressure though. Was this near the surface? Like 4ft or less? It can get a bit strange as you start/end the dive as it checks for you to cross the 4 ft depth. --- bill |

I can't be certain about this, but were you by any chance using the simulator mode prior to that particular dive? If so you may not have exited that setting prior to the actual dive. Depending on how you chose to display air during the simulation set up could explain the pressure reading you describe.
Holding down the buttons would have taken you out of sim mode and then either back into normal or one of the program modes depending on how long you held them down. In any case you'd have been back in normal mode in a few seconds after that. If this explanation is possible, I have no idea what the computer's actual behavior would be coming out if sim at depth. I'd be interested in hearing the details of what the computer actually recorded if anything - particularly your actual start of dive assuming you checked your watch and logged that. I also have an AI and have not had a problem as you describe. Please post with any new info you come up with on this. Good luck!

Bought it at scubatoys (only 10 minutes from the house). Printed out my dive data and everything looked normal. It accurately recorded the tanks start and end pressure, depth, dive time, etc...
Think I'll make a trip to the shop today and have one of the experts look at it and make sure it is working correctly. |

On the Atmos Elite, which is air integrated and wireless, there is a setting which lets you change the amount of time that passes before the computer updates information from the transmitter (every second, 3 seconds, etc) Perhaps the setting is too long on your computer? Sounds like you should send it back to the manufacturer or LDS to have it checked out.
