I've logged my last 50 or so dives on a VEO 250 console mount and just recently replaced the battery. However, I played with it a considerable amount in the "demo" mode learning to use it which used quite a bit of battery life. Since this is the only computer I've owned I don't have anything to compare to but I have no complaints with the 250 and it has served me well. When shopping for a computer I decided to pay a little more for a model with audible alarms. The only problem is I can't hear the alarms. I've confirmed they do work properly so I'll just blame it on poor hearing. I don't have a download cable but may invest since it sounds like a nice accessory.

wow lots of good input. I like the geo for its sleekness and ease of moving around through menus on the other hand 1 button click through makes it simple - but takes longer to get to the area of need - but it is simple. Is there an echo in here. So I have still not decided...

Have used both... same/similar features... the GEO has a freedive mode that is pretty cool...
other than that, the only difference is that the GEO is tiny in comparison... I had computers the size of the 250, sold both and went to a pair of GEO's... not going back

IIRC, all SPGs are all the same, with different brands stamped on them -- mine doesn't even have a brand, at least not on the face. If that's the case, just go with one that suits you (or your husband) best. Mine is pretty compact, and has both psi and bar numbers, and can be difficult to read for others.

Working at a dive shop we sold both the GEO and the VEO 250. The 250 beat out the GEO hands down, I think after 2 years we finally managed to sell all of them, but i only sold one if someone came in specifically asking for it. Other than that i recommended the veo 250 or even the 180 (which lacks alot of features) over the GEO. Granted...i dive the the pro plus 2 and if you want a console i think thats the way to go, but for a wrist computer the VEO 250 is the best i can think of short of going wireless.
