veo 100 console temperature
i have bought a veo 100 console computer.
i bought it few months ago but i just had a chance to use it and found out that the temperature that showed on the computer is different from the one that display on the air guage. is this normal? |

how much different?
those air gauge thermometers are pretty small, and hardly what I would call accurate... however, computer thermometers are sometimes slow to react to temp changes...

I hate to say it, but ya still gotta be more specific...
are we talking 81 degrees vs 79 degrees, or 88 degrees vs 72 degrees... a couple degrees is perfectly normal... 5 or more and I'd be more interested in the problem...

One thing to keep in mind is "time".
Temperature readings are not instantaneous. In other words it takes some amount of time for whatever is sensing the temperature to adjust to the ambient temperature. Some of the Oceanic models take quite a bit of time to do this. It can be 6-8 minutes or more for this adjustment to take place on some models. Actually it depends on the temperature and how many degrees difference there is between the air temperature and the water temperature. My Aeris AtmosAI adjusts at about 1-2 degrees per minute. The analog gauge may adjust faster than the computer to reflect the ambient temperature sooner. So depending on the initial temperature differences between the air and the water and when you look during the dive you may see bigger temperature differences between the two than you would see when trying to calibrate them. To check the temperature accuracies, you shouldn't need to actually get the equipment wet. Power on the Veo to put it into surface mode (which should show the temperature) Then, simply set both of them out on the kitchen table along with another thermometer that you trust and then look at the readings after say 30-45 minutes This should give you the information you need. --- bill |
