Is this a good deal?

I can get a cochran Commander Plus Nitrox computer used but refurbished at factory for $185.... i am planning on taking nitrox class this winter during the "dont have enough money for a dry suit" surface interval that is mid october - april.

Is this computer good? Ive read review and have heard mixed thought on it. Most complaints seem to be a matter or "garbage in, garbage out" human errors as opposed to actual failures

i though 185 was a good price for mid level computer, to start with

That is a terrible deal.
Suggest you give me the sellers name and contact information. I shall give him a good tongue lashing.

How Awkward. I thought it was $125.

$185 is probably fair for a refurbished.

no worries.. the write ups i saw were all positive and if it doesn't work out well for me, im sure i can sell it again, Even as a slight loss, and then get one that works.

For some reason i like the bigger computers as far as look goes.. I dont know if I want to fumble through menues to find the correct information I am looking for. I would have liked to get an air intergrated computer, but for what its worth... at less then 200 bucks for a computer i can seeminly grow into, i couldnt pass it up

I am actually looking for a bigger computer myself. I have been checking out the Cochrans. The $185 is a fair deal.

I have never been a fan of any in the 'C' line of dive computers, and I live in the factories backyard practically. I think there are far better offerings with far fewer concerns than these. But as the OP says....he can try it and if its not his cup of tea resell it to some other diver.

We ran into so many problems with them, repeated failures that we dropped the line... then picked it up again when things were "fixed", then dropped them again. We just had too many issues with quality and customer service. But if you get one that keeps working - they are nice computers - but we've had much better luck with other brands... and for us as well, cochran is just a short drive away - I could go pick up stock.... but not worth it for the problems we had.

With any luck, I have a shore dive planned for thursday morning. The post office willing (and some of you know the most recent problem i had with the post office ) I should have that cochran by tomorrow since the seller offered to ship it over night if i paid the extra shipping. Im going to call and confirm that today though to make sure.

Im going to down load the product manual from the web site and read up on it today at work. (paramedics always seem to have some down time, and i don't think that the drunks would mind me reading a manual)

I will provide a full report on Thursday evening, provided I'm not bent.

Thanks again everyone for your input.
