Updating Algorithms on Sunnto??
Hi.
Does anyone know if you can load updated algorithms on a Sunnto? My Vyper is so conservative, it is starting to become a real pain. I did two dives on one day starting at 40 and 39 meters respectively, and it chucked me into 20 min of ascent time and wouldn't start ticking it down until I reached 5 meters. By the time we got to 5 meters, everyone else (who all had uwatec computers and barely grazed no deco) only had a 5 minute stop to make. My Sunnto made me float between 3 and 5 meters for 20 minutes. I appreciate having a slightly more conservative computer... but this was really annoying! Another annoying thing about the Sunnto, is that it seems to think that 10 meters is some kind of "magic" cut off point, and the dive time changes radically between 10 and 11 meters -- which to me is a sign that the algorithms are too blunt. Does anyone know if you can upload updated algorithms on a Sunnto? My computer isn't that old, and I'd rather not resort to buying a new one. Thanks! |

well, you where doing some pretty deep dives... 140 feet or so... how long where you down?
Suunto's are know for being pretty conservative... i doubt you will be able to "loosen" it up by changing the algorithm on it. email them personally and see if there is something they can do for you.

You can not change the algorithm. There is no update as it has not changed. As the Gorilla said you are basically at the rec limits so you should expect something like that for that algorithm. The newer models allow you to set the algorithm at 50% so that may be an option.
