Suunto Sk7: Retractor to Bungee Mount

Is it possible to convert a retractor model into a bungee mount?

Would require removing the compass itself from the mount and getting a wrist boot for it. I don't see why it couldn't be done since the boots are available.

And Deep Sea Supply makes an awesome bungie mount for the SK7.

It's totally doable.

Just pick up a DSS boot.

Agreed, that's what I use and I'm very happy with it. I'm thinking of getting their mount for my VT3.

I have a SK7 wrist mount that I would like to convert to a bungie mount... how hard is it to get the compass out of the standard boot? How would one go about doing it?

I don't remember it being hard. If soaking it in hot water doesn't relax the rubber mount, you can just carefully make a cut down the side with a sharp knife.

Is there any way to remove the compass from the retractor boot without cutting it?

Yes I did it, switched to a deepsea bungie mount. Just remove the metal bar attached to the retractor. It has small hooks on one side of it so just push it down and pull it out. then work the compass bezel ring out of the boot, it is not attached to the compass body. The body will then fall out in you hand. Set the body in the bungie mount, with proper oreitation and push the bezel ring in. All done, not really hard just tedious.

Are the hooks on the metal bar on the compass side or the boot side. Am I pushing the metal bar away from the compass?

How does the bezel ring come off? Do you need to pry it off with a screwdriver?
