Macdive for Oceanic GEO/ATOM

I don't know if this is new news to anyone here or not, but Macdive now has support for the Oceanic GEO!!!

MacDive - News

If you download it, make sure you get the VCP USB drivers linked on the website's download page.

I downloaded the drivers and program and I'm thinking of trying it on my VT3. It can't hurt it, would probably just not recognize it I suspect. I'm on the fence though, I don't like turning on the dive computer if I'm not diving with it. Still, I'm curious too.

How good is this software, anyone use it? I've been considering a Macbook as a vacation/travel laptop and was going to dual-boot it into Windows to use with my Suunto D6. It seems this software supports many Suunto models so I may be able to skip Windows altogether.

Any comments/feedback on this software is appreciated!

I just fired up the software and downloaded my GEO's logs and its pretty nice. I personally think its a lot better than but comparable to the Oceanic software. Its got fields for you to enter detailed information about each dive including what kind of gear you were using. It gives the graphs for each dive and over all dive statistics.

Yes! At the top toolbar, click "macdive", then preferences, and you change from metric to imperial or "i'm canadian".

I use it all the time with my dive computers, it's not perfect, but the developer is very responsive to requests from the users; which is more than I can say about any of the computer manufacturers when it coms to their software.

Give it a try!

I'm curious about why would you hesitate to turn on your dc unless you're diving it.

Anyway, I'd like to know if it recognizes a VT3 too... If you email the developer you may be able to help him implement support for the VT3.

It's far from perfect.

But yes, I'm pretty responsive to requests.

As DMWiz says, give it a try - it's free, so it won't cost you anything except a few minutes worth of your time. If you have any comments, suggestions, problems, just send me an email. Comparing this version to the first is fairly amusing - it's come a long way, and that's primarily due to user feedback. So don't be shy!

Suggestions are always welcome!

edit: I'm in touch with someone about the VT3. Waiting for him to run some tests and hopefully send me some data, and we'll go from there. But more data would always be nice, so if you have the time to spare a few minutes helping me out running some programs, then feel free to get in touch via email and I'll give you some more details.

Also, DMWiz, email me with your issues
