Aeris XR2
So my dad gave me his old Aeris XR2 computer and I used it about 10 times before it started to display a flashing "low battery" icon. I went ahead and changed the battery only to find out that 5-8 dives later, i was doing the same thing.
The computer itself is set to turn off every 2 hours if no buttons are pressed which is a cool feature, but I found out that sometimes it would turn off after my first dive when I had been out of the water for not even 40 minutes. This erased my previous dive data so I was SOL for my repetitive dives. ![]() Adding to this, I noticed that it turns off much more if it is exposed to direct sunlight (i.e. on my wrist while laying on the boat) Luckily, my fiancee noticed how upset this made me and she got me the Oceanic Geo for my BDAY! From ST of course and its been great. I really want to fix my Aeris computer simply to have a backup just in case a buddy of mine needs it on any dive. It was originally given to my dad by a friend of his who had to give up diving due to health related problems and he doesn't have any warranty info. Any advice on what to do? Can ST help me out on this? Thanks! |

Option 1: Tell your dad thanks for the broken computer and trade it in for another new one to use as a backup? Aeris does have some sort of trade in program.
Option 2: Call Oceanic/Aeris' service number. You will get a real human. Explain it to them and when they tell you to send it in, ask what it will cost to check it out (they might not even charge to give you a repair estimate). If it isn't much, send it in. If it is too high, go back to option number 1. With two prior owners who knows what kind of life it has lead? Maybe it just needs to retire. |

It should log 24 dives before eraseing or over-writing the log. You shouldn't leave any electronic device in direct sunlight. Brand new the warranty is 2 yrs. Send it back to Aeris, get a refurbished one for $110.00 +S&H. It'll come with a 1 yr. warranty. |
