Aeris SPG Failure

Just as a heads up, as I've never heard about this before, but my Aeris SPG, part of my Aeris XR2 console, leaked and ceased being accurate due to the salt within the guage. It was 13 months old with about 18 dives on it. - Also was handled with care in my carry on luggage only.

Since Sucbatoys is an authorized dealer , I'll be trying out Aeris' warranty process. The downside is that it failed early on my week-long dive trip, so even though Aeris may fix this under warranty, I still had to lay out the cash for another SPG (cheaper than renting a set of gauges for the week), so if Aeris repairs this, it will sit in the closet as a spare - and I'm out the money anyway.

I'll post back on how the warranty process goes.

Jeff

Where exactly did it leak? If it was the swivel on the spool (O ring seal) I dont see how Aeris can be blamed for that

That's a good point. I really don't have anyway to diagnose where the leak was. It leaked for a dive, then dried up and the salt inside made it useless. It did not leak on the next dive. A visual doesn't lead me to any conclusions excep the o-rings look fine.

I mentioned in the initial post that I would keep everyone updated on the warranty process. To summarize:

1 - Called Aeris got RMA number
2 - sent to Aeris (at my expense)
3 - Few weeks later, a refurbished SPG (not sure if it was mine originally or not) arrives.

So, overall thanks to Aeris for a smooth, quick warranty process. As I said initially, I had to buy a replacement guage, because I didn't have weeks to wait, so I'm still dissapointed in that, but couldn't rightfully expect anything else from Aeris other than a free and relatively quick warranty repair.
