They are essentially the same computer. The only difference is the size.
If you have good eyes, you can use either. The bigger display will always be easier to read at a glance, so that will get my vote. The Atom makes a better watch, however. Personally, I already have a watch, so I'd take the bigger, easier-to-read size, even though my eyes are fine. |

I have the VT3, it's an awesome computer and very easy to read. Unless I start using trimix it's going to last me for a long time because it can go up to 100% O2.
<DIV></DIV> <DIV>IMO best of the best and user replaceable batteries to boot. Common buy at the store down the block type as well. Well thought out.</DIV> |

If I recall on the Atom you have to cycle through a few various screens to really get all the information you can get on a single screen with the VT3. Since I use dive computers only for diving and not a watch I think the VT3 is the better choice. It also has the buddy check feature so you can read your buddy's transmitter so you can see how much air he or she has left, provided they are diving an oceanic/aeris transmitter on their first stage. I don't believe the Atom does that. EDIT: As pointed out by Compudude the Atom 2.0 does support the wireless buddy check. |

"The Atom 2 Buddy Pressure Check™ allows you to receive and monitor your "Buddy's" air pressure" http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detai...tom2.0Computer But I agree with your preference for the VT3 for the same reasons you stated. If I didn't have the Uwatec computer I currently have, I'd probably be diving a VT3. |
