mares nemo wrist computer

I am unhappy with the wrist band extender for this dive computer. Yes, I am mainly a cold water diver so this unit must fit over a 7mm wet suit. Otherwise than putting this computer on a bungie type cord..any suggestions to secure the extender to the existing band. I have contacted the Mares dealer and nothing else is available. I really don't want to lose this at the bottom of the pond!! There has to be a better wrist band out there for this unit!!!
