I would like to download data from my Sherwood Insight.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>I downloaded the software from Sherwood. Do I really need to pay over $100 for a cable? Isn't this basically just a glorified USB cable? I assume the connections are proprietary?</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>Any way to do this yourself?</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>I paid good money for the computer, and I have spent plenty with Sherwood and like their products, but the $100+ cable bugs me a little.</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks for any info.</DIV>

Its not just a cable with wires. There are active components inside
the connector. A processor, memory, etc... The cable is actually
a USB to serial data converter.

Annoying, isnt it? I love my Uwatec... it uses industry-standard IR, so no proprietary cables needed!

I wasn't going to, but I ended up shelling out the money for my Suunto cable. Glad I did too. Pretty cool to see graphs of your dive profiles rather than just max depth, time, etc.
