Cressi Archimede II dive computer question

Hi all

I am seriously considering the Cressi Archimede II 3 gauge computer console for purchase in early Jan 08.

What I want to know is if the computer can be removed from the console and wrist mounted?

Haven't been able to get any solid info on that anywhere.

Regards

Lloyd

While I do not know the answer to your question, here is the link to that instrument on their web site. In a brief overview I did not read any info that would give any diffenative confermation either way. Best bet would be contact Cressisub directly.

Hi Goober

I have read the manual and looked through the Cressi site. I could find no info hence I asked online.

As it stands, I have sent an email from their contact form already, though I don't expect a response - I'm skeptical when it comes to feedback via the net.

I'm sure you realize that the cressi computer is not a cressi computer. Cressi doesn't make computers - it's a Seiko they slap their name on. Actually the Tusa IQ700 is a seiko Tusa SCA-343 Console, Computers: Nitrox, Tusa, Tusa SCA-343 Console and can come in a 3 gauge console...

And that one will pop out easily and Zeagle has just come out with a great idea (oh.... it was mine!) to offer a bungied wrist strap for that computer: Zeagle Tech Wrist Mount, Zeagle Accessories, Zeagle, Zeagle Tech Wrist Mount

We used to carry cressi - but ran into a fair number of customer service issues that led us to stop carrying that line - especially when the same computers were available from companies that have top level customer service like Zeagle and Tusa.

So unless Cressi had seiko do something totally different for them... I'm sure you could use the same wrist boot... It fit on the original Archimedes... I just haven't check out if cressi changed anything as far as the form factor on the II... but I'm 99% sure it's the same as all the others...

You know Larry, that seems to be the norm with Cressi. My LDS dropped the Cressi line altogether And Literaly Blew out all of their Cressi Inventory, because of poor experiances with them. It is such a shame when companies for get that with out the customer, there is no business.

That's some great info

Hey Larry, Goober

This is definitely some food for thought. The Tusa is a nice setup, but it's out of my price range. Considering I'm setting up basically from scratch with an entire set of scuba gear I am limited by my budget. Maybe I should wait a bit on the purchase.

My only issue is that I am getting my regs soon, and I wanted set of gauges to attach to them, with a dive computer. I figured I would get it right away rather than blow money on a 3 gauge console and then later have to buy a computer separately. Perhaps that would be the way to go though...

Today I discovered a LDS that had a preference for Oceanic and XS Scuba gear - at excellent prices, and they'll offer good discounts. Having a good relationship makes such a difference with making purchases. Your board is really a wonderful community.

I'll think about getting a 3 gauge console for now... and get a wrist computer like the Oceanic VT Pro later.

Larry, can you find me an Oceanic GT3 CDX5 reg - non-DVT? I'll buy it.
