VT3 Wrist Strap Fit

OK, I'm sure this is a newbie questions because, well, I'm a newb

I bought a VT3, from ST of course, and the strap is huge! My wife could wear it on her calf. But I noticed it has little sections on the strap that look like you are supposed to trim it along them so that it is the right size for you. Is this what I am supposed to do?

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

I own a VT Pro and it has a similar strap. THe strap is big so you can wear it on your forearm, or over a thick wetsuit.

You can trim it. However, I cannot bring myself to do so. Don't know why, but I just don't want to jack with it. I just tuck it back, and it works fine.

Before you trim it, think about it. If you ever dive dry you will want that long strap.

I trimmed both my Atmos 2 and veo180nx...

I made sure I had enough for a 7 mil wetsuit, and cut with a good pair of scissors... I'll never need to dive dry, so that wasn't an issue for me...

How much girth does a dry suit add? On my bare arm I'm in the 4th notch. That leaves 14 notches and a little over 6 inches of strap left. If I count after the little tab you tuck the extra strap under, that leaves 11 notches and 5 inches of strap. I don't plan on doing dry suit dives, but I'm so new to diving that I guess I can't really predict what I might do later.

Bigg_Budd, where do you tuck it back into itself at? Do you bend it over backwards and then under that little tab again? For reference, since you have one too, my strap will wrap around over the face of the computer enough to cover the VT3 emblem at the bottom of the face between the two buttons.

I dove with a Suunto that had a long azz strap like that and hated it. I was always futzing with it and it wouldn't stay tucked back. I, too, just bought a VT3 from ST and will definitely be trimming mine.

4 to 5 inches! Lol, I have this image in my head now of the Stay-Puff marshmallow man all decked out in dive gear I don't know if I would enjoy diving as Stay-Puff!?!

Big_Budd, that actually works pretty well, I will try it like that for a while and see how it works for me. I guess if it gets too annoying I can always just trim it and then buy another boot if I decide to try Stay-Puff.....errrr.....dry suit diving.
