Replacing Battery
Can anyone give me an easy set of steps for replacing a battery on a wrist mouted Suunto Vyper?
I've had a look in the manual but can't seem to get the bloody thing out of the wrist boot. Am I missing the secret codes? Or do I just need to apply great intelligence (brute force and a hammer for example) to get the little sod out of it's rubber? |

If your uncomfortable or can't figure it out then definately take it into an LDS that is authorized to work on them to do it - MAKE SURE THEY ARE AUTHORIZED TO SERVICE THAT BRAND. I had an LDS (owner was a scumbag) replace the battery on my computer and service my reg. The schmo didn't lock the battery compartment lock back properly and slipped it back into the boot. The first time I dove with it, I got into the water and at about 10 ft, flooded and fried the computer. I was pissed. Went back to the guy and got into his shi*. He wouldn't do anything to accomodate for the damage. Thanks to another dive shop down the road, they contacted Genesis and they agreed to fix it for free as it was still under warranty. Kudos to them. I was w/o a computer for months though.
Needless to say the scumbad dive shop owner is now out of business. |

I finished my dive trip with BATTERY LOW on and I was hoping it would last. Now I sat down to try changing the battery and can't get it out of the wrist mount either, but I didn't try too hard because I read the battery replacement procedure and it mentions replacing the O ring, which isn't in the battery replacement kit. SO... now I have to get a new o ring or just take it in and get it replaced at the shop. Oh, BTW changing out the plastic protector is suprisingly easy. Just use pop it out, it's amazing how much easier the comp is to read on the surface without the scratched up protector in place, I put a new one on though.
