VEO 250 vs Atmos AI

I am thinking about getting either the VEO 250 or Atmos AI. I know that they are made basically by the same people and both can do nitrogen. The AI is a little more but also smaller. Has anyone had any problems with either one? Does either one have something that would be better then the other one? I appreciate everyone’s inputs.

Thanks

You're comparing two wildly different computers... the Veo250 is a wrist or console mount, standard computer...

the Atmos AI is a hose mount, air integrated computer...

Compare the Veo250 to the Atmos XR2

Compare the Atmos AI to the Oceanic Datamax Pro Plus 2

Other than that, they are the same company, same algorithms... Price and appearance are the only difference....

If price and size is a factor, consider a mini spg, and a wrist mount computer...

The only input I can add is that I have a VEO 250 and have been very happy with it. A number of other folks on the board have it as well and I can't recall anyone having anything but good things to say about it.

Mitsuguy's point is good, though. This is really a decision of if you want AI or not, and if you want wrist mount capability or not (you can have both for more $$$ in a wireless AI computer).

I'd suggest doing a search and reading some threads about the pro/cons of air integrated computers and decide.

Aeris and Oceanic are both good brands.

I have a Oceanic Veo 180 (very similar to 250) and I have to honestly say that this is the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned (even beats out a Dodge 600 turbo).I am now on my 3rd computer in 2 years bought from Leisure Pro. That's right they have replaced it 3 times. I just left the 3rd one in the box but I got it out yesterday to get ready for a trip to Ginnie Springs--thought I might as well give it a try. New Computer turned on 1 time and the battery is low again---pain in the butt to change. These Oceanic computers will need a new battery about every 6 dives or every 2 weeks. They are guaranteed to fail at 60 feet if the water is below 70 degrees. As I said ABSOLUTE JUNK---dont trust your life to one.My old Aqua Lung Matrix air computer is still going strong after 8 years--never gives a problem.

lol I know the aeris atmos 2 is AERIS but oceanic and aeris are the same sometimes for the 1st five minutes it will display a low battery warning try giving it that amount of time. Also check your setting, is your sampling rate set to every 3-4 seconds? then yes it will last that long plus if your back light is set to stay on for 7 seconds it will drain much quicker, check your settings I reccomed a sample rate of every 30 seconds(sample rate samples the water temp and a couple other factors) depth is independent. and set the back light to 3 seconds these things should increase your battery life by quite a bit (if you have done this sorry for assuming you havent)

Please when you get your computer make sure to set them up and check them they are sometimes on different setting and it can be disastorous

I'm sorry you've had those problems... I have both a Veo 180 and a Atmos 2 and not a single problem with either one... including deep and cold (well, 50 degrees) dives... no problems at all... the atmos 2 is a year old, the veo 180 a month or so...

how do you see the battery as being a pain to change? you turn the included key, replace the battery, and put it back... both my computers are on their original batteries...

as with anything, some people have worse luck than others, but I've seen very few negative reports about these computers...

Correct... I've not disassembled one, but the computer comes out of the console, then access to the battery is right there...

I think it just pops out of the rubber housing since it is a puck style computer - that is how I get my veo180 out of the wrist boot and they are basically the same style of computer
