N2ition / Nemo Wide/ Atom 2.0 ... time to pick.. please help.
the day to pick up a new computer is coming soon, and i need help deciding.
i do 2-3 dives on a dive day, 60 feet is usually the deepest, maybe 70 once in a blue moon. i see all 3 have no deco countdown, all do nitrox (taking class before summer) and all 3 look user friendly. i read a bit about the Mares nemo wide, and it seems ok. I've heard a bunch about the Atom 2.0, and it seems like the right choice, i mean, so many people use it and like it, why not? and the Zeagle N2ition, havent heard anything about it from anyone. it seems like it would be the most expandable of the 3 as it does 2 gas switching during a dive, so if i ever get into that, it will be usable still. The Zeagle has the best price, and with 3 buttons (unlike the impossible to use 1 button computers) it seems like is what i should buy, but i know nothing about this, other than the name Zeagle is on it, and they DO NOT MAKE JUNK, so i doubt they would put their name on it if it was no good. The Atom2 seems like the next logical choice, soso on the price, but i will have some gift certs soon... and that will help a bit, but not as expandable as the n2ition. I've just about gave up on the Nemo Wide... don't know why, cause i was pretty set on that not long ago. As aways, any and all help is appreciated. Many many many Thanks in advanced -Felipe.(Fyve)

Oceanic has the best and longest track record. The Atom2 is a good little computer, and you can use it as wireless AI down the road just by adding a transmitter. Kind of neat that it's both a watch and a computer, for dive trips. Small screen, but that's the price you pay for the watch size device, and given your young age it's probably not an issue for you.
Zeagle makes nice stuff, but their computer is simply a re-branded computer... it's the same as the DiveRite Duo, for instance (although their warranty is better). Not AI possible. Still, not a bad computer by any means. Mares Wide certainly looks nice, but I'm not a fan of their overly conservative algorithm. Maybe if you were an older diver, but you're not. And I still prefer the feature set of the Oceanic systems. So I'd go for the Oceanic... Zeagle as runner up. |

is the oceanic Geo the same as the Atom minus the AI? i dont plan on having wireless air anytime soon (if ever, cause looking at a gauge 3-4 times during a dive does not bother me)
if that is the same computer, than that might be the winner, as it is much cheaper than the atom2.0 anything against the N2ition? if it's the same computer, rebranded for a 3rd time, then it must do something right.

No, the Geo and Atom are quite different. Geo is the bottom of the line. Atom 2 is higher on the scale, even if you don't add the transmitter (it's an optional add-on for a reason).
The N2ition is a decent comp. Check around for reviews of the DiveRite computer if you want to know about ergonomics and such. |
