My vote is for Scuba with Alison. She is awesome and a lot of fun. Great at training and specializes in small groups with excellent safety and attention to the needs of her customers.

Scuba Doo at the El Presidente resort took care of me pretty well. Went on 3 occasions with them in a 1-week span.

I second Scuba Du. Dove with them back in May had a great time. The resort I was staying at (El Cozumeleno) was too far north for any of the other shops but every morning at 7:30 there was the boat. There was a few times that the boat could not take us back to our resort but Scuba Du paid for the taxi.

What ever shop you choose you will have a great time diving.

And I also would reserve a spot in advance to make sure you can dive

Scubamaucozumel!

Hi-if you havent booked yet then research Mau at Scubamaucozumel. He is such a great instructor. Very patient and safe. I have been on so many dives while he is instructing and all his clients where totally calm and confident. It makes me wish there where some tech courses he could teach me. The other dive masters are second to none on the island. That said most dive masters that are from the island are good there. They are especially safe and fun to dive with. The boats are fast, covered. Water, fruit are supplied for the SI. Email Opal and she will get you a great deal. They are located at Villa Blanca and the shore dives are free. I hope you have a great time no matter who you choose. Good diving to ya. kev

I am heading down in Dec as well and I went with Deep Exposure. I researched online and found they appealed to me the most. They did ask for half up front which for my gf and myself (she needs some gear just got cert.) was a check for $477. I have to admit it made me a little uneasy. I did some more research before I sent the check and could only find great things about them. They even through in a free computer for 5 dives and gave me 10% since I booked a whole week. Since I haven't used the shop don't know if I can recommend it but there follow up so far has been great.

hmmm, half up front that's interesting. I've never done that. PapaHogs asks for a credit card # for deposit (you call the owner in canada, and give it to them, they email the shop and indicate you have a reservation on file).

I've also used Dive House II the shop in Fiesta Americana, they required no deposit before hand.

Even though this thread was started a while back looks like it is still usefull.

Another recommendation for Scuba Mau. My 23 year old daughter is going down with us in 3 weeks and I am trusting her with Mau to get her training/certification. Opal and Mau have put together a great team.

We are diving with Alison in January. I've heard good things about her, her gear, her boat, and staff.
